Founder’s Story

Welague Global Healing Network Inc ( a non-profit 501(C ) (3 ) corporation founded with the hope to provide and connect uninsured and under insured families with low-income to no insurance to fond their services within any mental health services.

WGHNI was founded by Vanessa Welague, whose personal journey, academic preparation, and professional experience in mental health shaped a deep commitment to healing, advocacy, and community resilience.

Ms. Welague is an immigrant and a proud citizen of the United States of America who has navigated complex systems of education, healthcare, and community service with perseverance and purpose. She holds an Associate Degree in Health Information Technology from Saint Paul College, a dual Bachelor’s degree in Health Services Management and Psychology from University of Maryland Global Campus, a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, and a Master of Social Work from Howard University.

Throughout her academic and professional journey, Ms. Welague worked within inpatient mental health settings, including her role as a therapist intern and facility supervisor at one of the renowned health services, where she supported individuals experiencing acute mental health crises. Day after day, she witnessed the urgent and recurring needs within African and Black communities, as well as other underserved populations needs that often went unmet due to stigma, limited access, and systemic barriers.

These experiences revealed a critical gap: individuals and families in crisis frequently lacked culturally responsive, compassionate, and trauma-informed support systems that extended beyond clinical walls. Ms. Welague recognized that sustainable healing requires not only treatment, but also education, community connection, advocacy, and safe spaces where people feel seen and valued.

Her vision was also shaped by lived experience. As a student and a mother in her early twenties, Ms. Welague faced periods of trauma, depression, and emotional strain while balancing academic demands, caregiving responsibilities, and personal growth. These challenges deepened her empathy and strengthened her resolve to ensure that others would not have to navigate similar struggles alone or in silence.

Driven by both professional insight and personal understanding, Ms. Welague envisioned a collaborative network where dedicated peers, professionals, and community members could come together to deliver holistic, dignified, and accessible mental health support. This vision became Welague Global Healing Network Inc an organization rooted in compassion, resilience, and the belief that healing is possible when communities unite with purpose.

Today, the organization continues to reflect the founder’s commitment to trauma-informed care, equity in mental health access, and the empowerment of individuals and families on their journey toward wellness and stability.
